On the Ground Group was pleased to partner with the Canada-Southern Africa Chamber of Business in its 5th Annual Risk Mitigation & CSR in Africa and Emerging Markets seminar held for the first time in Vancouver on April 28.
Fourteen presenters representing mining companies, CSR experts, associations and NGO's covered a range of topics as varied as the issues surrounding CSR including the legal structure behind CSR, managing community relations through supply chain management, avoiding corruption in international mining projects, guidelines for sustainable community development and CSR as a risk mitigant.
Premier Sponsors for the seminar were Fasken Martineau, Hatch and International SOS. Partners included CIM, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, PDAC, MineAfrica Inc. and On the Ground Group.
Dila Ersenkal of Hatch and Kevin O'Callaghan of Fasken Martineau co-chaired the day-long seminar.
