Risk Mitigation and CSR - October 27, 2010
seminar report
The issues around Corporate Social Responsibility are topical, complicated, incredibly broad in scope and frequently misunderstood.
MineAfrica was pleased to partner with the Canada-Southern Africa Chamber of Business in its 4th Annual Risk Mitigation & CSR in Africa and Emerging Markets seminar on October 27 which provided some clarity, expertise and successful case studies to an audience of eighty participants.
Eighteen presenters representing mining companies, CSR experts, NGO's and Canadian government officials covered a range of topics as varied as the issues surrounding CSR including financing requirements for mining companies, equator principles, China in Africa, working with NGO's to implement effective CSR programs and Bill C-300 (narrowly defeated in Canadian parliament that very evening).
Premier Sponsor for the seminar was Hatch. Other sponsors and partners included Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, MineAfrica Inc. and On the Ground Group.
Thank you to seminar Chair Dila Ersenkal of Hatch.
